Any trick to change the results will lead to a serious disaster, Nyaho-Tamakloe warns the EC

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to allow the will of the people to reign without manipulation.

According to him, in the current times, the slightest attempt to manipulate the election results would have serious consequences.

In an interview with JoySports’ Atsu Tamakloe, he explained that “no one, and particularly the Election Commission, any trick they play to change the results will lead this country to a serious disaster.”

“And you, the young people, must open your ears and make sure that this does not happen because you will lose,” he said.

He also expressed concern over the potential of NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, along with his running mate Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to capture political power during the December elections.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said both were not convincing enough and could not really secure victory.

“I personally don’t believe that such a candidate can win a genuine election in this country,” he said.

He also suggested that Dr Bawumia was not involved in the selection of his running mate, a move he said will stifle synergy.

“And as I predicted before, Bawumia will not have a free hand in choosing his running mate? Never. I said it before, I have the recording. (I said) that we will choose his running mate for him. And that is exactly what happened,” he said.

“Why should Bawumia not be allowed to choose his own running mate? Whether he will get along with his running mate is his business.”

The party stalwart was also concerned that MPs would even consider legislating to enforce their rights to use sirens and drive without speed limits.
