Marnus Labuschagne gets his first five-wicket haul, Glamorgan vs Somerset scorecard, T20 Blast, video, highlights

Marnus Labuschagne concluded his county season at Glamorgan with a record-breaking bowling performance during Friday’s T20 Blast match against Somerset in Cardiff.

The Queensland leg-spinner took career-best figures of 5-11 in 2.3 overs, including a triple-wicket maiden, to help bowl out Somerset for 123 in 13.3 overs at Sophia Gardens.

It was the best bowling performance by a Glamorgan player in the T20 format, surpassing Graham Wagg’s 5-15 against Worcestershire in June 2013.

Introduced into the attack in the tenth over, Labuschagne removed opposing captain Lewis Gregory before clearing the Somerset tail, with his remaining four dismissals each bowled.

Gregory’s departure sparked a frantic 7-35 collapse, with Glamorgan cruising to a thumping 123-run victory.

Earlier, Glamorgan posted 4-243 in their 20 overs, the highest team total in this season’s T20 Blast, with captain Kiran Carlson posting a career-best score of 135 (64) after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

However, it was not enough for the Welsh county to qualify for the last 16, finishing sixth in their group standings with six wins from 13 matches.

Labuschagne, who will return home to Australia this week, finished the T20 Blast with 228 runs at 20.72 and 15 wickets at 12.86.
