Namibia: Founding President Hospitalized – allAfrica.com

Namibia’s founding president Sam Nujoma has been admitted to hospital in Windhoek.

His son, Utoni, says Nujoma was admitted on Thursday and is currently recovering.

“He wasn’t feeling well, but he’s fine now,” he said Friday.

Utoni did not reveal further details.

The Namibian newspaper recently reported that Nujoma did not attend the funeral of his late sister, Frieda Daniel, last month, with some sources saying this was because he was ill.

Nujoma’s last public appearance was in February, at the memorial service and funeral of former President Hage Geingob.

His personal doctor, Tshali Ithete, said in May that the founding father was in good health after being discharged from hospital a week earlier.
