The certainties for each remaining match of Round 19

Back for another week, the SEN.com.au The team gives you an idea of how each game will develop over the weekend.

Labeling something as a “certainty” in any sport is fraught with danger.

But we’ll try to find some anyway.

Here are our certainties for the remaining eight games of Round 19, which will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

GWS vs Gold Coast

Tom Green 30+ disposals

Tom Green has surpassed 30 disposals in five weeks running and has been in excellent ball-winning form.

Meanwhile, the Suns will be without Touk Miller and their midfield typically struggles on the road.

All of this suggests that Green will see plenty of football on Saturday afternoon.

Wil Powell 15+ disposals

Wil Powell has recorded 20 kills in three of his last five games and reached 15 in all five.

He should have an active participation in the Suns’ game, being a key piece in the movement of the ball.

Powell is expected to easily find 15 kills against the Giants.

St Kilda vs West Coast

Sinclair Sales 25+

St Kilda star Jack Sinclair has been in fine form in recent weeks.

Over the past five weeks, Sinclair has had 31, 32, 31, 28 and 20 touches respectively and could have another big game against the Eagles.

He also had at least 28 touches in each of his last five games at Marvel Stadium.

If allowed relative freedom, 25 touches are well within reach.

Hawthorn vs Collingwood

Sales of more than 20 units in Newcombe

Jai Newcombe loves playing for Collingwood.

In his three career games against the Pies, the 22-year-old has recorded at least 23 disposals.

He recently had 26 touches with 10 clearances and a goal against the Magpies during Gather Round and could do so again at the MCG, especially given Collingwood’s recent record in terms of allowing touches to opposition linemen.

While he only had 15 and 16 eliminations respectively in the last two weeks, he should bounce back in a big way.

Geelong vs Western Bulldogs

Cameron will score 2 or more goals

Jeremy Cameron has been creating plenty of scoring chances for the Cats in recent weeks.

He has kicked 14.13 in his last five outings, including 3.3 in a drawn game against Collingwood last weekend.

The Bulldogs’ defence allowed 15 shots to Carlton duo Charlie Curnow (3.7) and Harry McKay (3.2) last week, so they will need to seriously beef up if they are to deny Cameron.

When the two clubs last met in Gather Round (Round 4), Cameron was dominant with 27 touches, six inside 50s and two goals (four behind) in Geelong’s four-point win.

We expect ‘Jezza’ to be in the mix once again and to get at least two important goals for the Cats on Saturday night.

Andrew Slevison

Port Adelaide vs Richmond

Georgiades will score 2 or more goals

Averaging 2.1 goals per game this season and 15 goals in his last five matches, the key forward should have plenty of opportunities to score against a struggling Richmond side at Adelaide Oval.

Having kicked 12 goals in his last three games at Adelaide Oval (including five goals in Port Adelaide’s 48-point win over the Bulldogs in Round 17), it’s clear the youngster is enjoying playing at home.

Additionally, Georgiades and his fellow forwards will likely receive constant forward tackles as Port Adelaide’s midfield will look to dominate the clearance game in the absence of Tigers star Tim Taranto.

Tom Williams

Brisbane vs Sydney

Heeney for more than 20 disposals and a goal

After seeing his Brownlow Medal hopes ended thanks to a week-long suspension for striking St Kilda’s Jimmy Webster in Round 17, Sydney star Isaac Heeney will be eager to return to action this Sunday against the Lions.

With an average of 25.8 disposals and 1.4 goals this season and the Brisbane clash being one of the biggest games of the year for Sydney, we can expect a strong performance from one of the best players of 2024.

Heeney, who kicked three goals in his last outing for the Lions in 2022, will be looking to get back on the scoresheet against a strong Brisbane line-up in what could potentially be the game of the round.

Tom Williams

Fremantle vs Melbourne

Serong will have more than 25 disposals

Of the eight games Fremantle have played at Optus Stadium this season, Caleb Serong has recorded 25 or more disposals in all eight of those games.

Averaging 30.1 disposals per game this season, Serong is likely to find plenty of football at his Perth home.

Plus, with key injuries in Melbourne’s midfield, the Dockers will be eager to perform well in an important top-eight clash against the Demons.

He is expected to surpass the 25-touch mark.

Tom Williams

Carlton v North Melbourne

Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay combine to score 5+ goals

With 91 goals between them this season, Charlie Curnow (49) and Harry McKay (42) should prove too much for a less threatening North Melbourne backline in what is expected to be a high-scoring encounter at Marvel Stadium.

The last time these two teams met early in Round 3, McKay kicked five goals, narrowly edging out partner in crime Charlie Curnow, who kicked four.

Plus, with Curnow kicking three goals and seven behind last week, double Coleman Medallist will be keen to kick straighter this week.

It could be a refueling station under the roof.
