Samsung Galaxy Z phone pre-sales drop in Korea

According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung announced that pre-order sales for its new Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 phones have declined in Korea compared to last year.

The foldable phones, launched at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, garnered attention due to their upgraded features, design changes, improved portability, and inclusion of Galaxy AI, making the devices more expensive than their predecessors.

The report noted that Samsung has managed to pre-sell 910,000 units so far, while pre-sales of the Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 have broken records by selling over 1.02 million units in 2023.

However, the smartphone maker revealed that the percentage of customers aged between 20 and 30 who pre-ordered their device rose to 50 percent, from 43 percent last year.

Additionally, the pre-order ratio of Fold 6 and Flip 6 is 4:6, compared to 3:7 last year, highlighting the growing popularity of foldable phones in the country.

The South Korean company has extended the pre-order period from July 12 to July 18 as it expects sales to trend upward once the foldable devices are officially launched.
