South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Wests Tigers results, round 20, Newcastle Knights vs Brisbane Broncos updates, latest news; Broncos did not force Adam Reynolds’ early return according to Kevin Walters

Kevin Walters has denied that Adam Reynolds has been rushed back into the Broncos squad before he has fully recovered from a biceps injury.

Reynolds was a surprise last-minute inclusion in the Broncos’ squad to face the Knights in Newcastle this afternoon.

The veteran will make his 50th appearance for the Broncos after spending 11 weeks on the sidelines.

Reynolds’ inclusion in the squad is not the only big signing for the Broncos – Reece Walsh, Payne Haas and Patrick Carrigan have all been confirmed as substitutes following a brutal Origin decision.

“It’s good to have him back,” coach Kevin Walters said of Reynolds’ inclusion Friday.

“You can see the difference and the confidence he brings to the group is really good.”

Although he was named in the extended squad on Tuesday, assistant coach Matt Ballin told Nine’s Peter Psaltis later that night that he had only been named in the squad literally to fill in the numbers.

He was wearing a heavy bandage on the arm injured during the captain’s run on Friday.

But Walters insisted Reynolds was not being rushed back into the team and had recovered sufficiently.

“He has been medically cleared and we certainly won’t go against any medical advice,” Walters said.

“We have great confidence in our people here and they say he is right to leave.”

Selwyn Cobbo will miss the match with groin pain after a brutal Origin decision.

For the Knights, Kalyn Ponga, Dane Gagai and Bradman Best are expected to play.
