A strong cold front in western New South Wales has brought gusty westerly winds across the south and east.

Sydney was hit by strong winds today, reaching 17 degrees during the day.

Tomorrow will be dry and mostly sunny in New South Wales as the BOM has forecast a high pressure system to move overhead in the first half of next week.

Cold, strong westerly winds were also felt in Victoria thanks to low pressure over Bass Strait.

Melbourne reached a maximum temperature of just 12 degrees during the day.

Sunday will be cool and mostly cloudy, while Monday and Tuesday will be cool and dry.

After a sunny day in Queensland, scattered showers are expected on the east coast for the rest of the weekend.
