Man United’s predicted XI against Rangers: Leny Yoro could debut, Jadon Sancho could return – Man United news and transfer news

Leny Yoro could, at least in theory, make his Manchester United debut this afternoon following his sensational transfer from LOSC Lille.

He could be one of several first-team stars to make their first appearance of pre-season, with only a handful featuring in the dull opening game against Rosenborg on Monday.

There is little indication as to whether manager Erik ten Hag will field his strongest team or not, and Yoro seems unlikely to feature, having only signed yesterday. However, for our predicted XI we have been optimistic from a fan perspective and have put the Frenchman straight into the starting XI.

There he is partnered with Victor Lindelof, who has been training but for some reason did not make the trip to Rosenborg.

Harry Maguire remains injured while Lisandro Martinez is on holiday following his victorious exploits in the Copa America.

We expect Andre Onana to return in goal despite not travelling to Trondheim on Monday.

If Yoro plays, it would mean Jonny Evans would possibly play at left-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right side of defence.

Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are on holiday after Euro 24, while Tyrell Malacia is not yet fit to play as he continues his comeback after a year on the sidelines.

In midfield, Casemiro could be a teammate for Mason Mount. Hannibal played alongside the Brazilian on Monday, but was very poor.

Up front, another talking point could be the return of Jadon Sancho, who has reconciled with Ten Hag after almost a year apart. We believe he could play in the number 10 role, with Amad and Antony returning to the wings (they were also inexplicably absent from the trip to Norway).

This would mean Marcus Rashford would lead the line, although there were reports he missed training yesterday so that could be a doubt.

Of course, major changes would be expected at half-time with players like Toby Collyer, Harry Amass, Ethan Williams, Ethan Wheatley, Hannibal, Jack Fletcher and Joe Hugill getting their chance.

There will be no place for Will Fish, who was injured against the Norwegian team.

Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, Josh Zirkzee, Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are also on holiday after international duty.

With all this in mind, here is our expected starting XI for today’s 4pm kick-off at Murrayfield:
