Teenagers face a number of charges after an all-night crime spree in Hawke’s Bay

Leonard said the pair are due to reappear in Napier Youth Court on August 1.

“They face a number of charges arising from the events of July 15, while one also faces other charges related to the events of May and June,” he said.

“While the arrests are positive, we are dismayed by the number of people who have become victims in a matter of hours.

“The trauma of being threatened while doing your job is unacceptable and for some people, the loss of a car can have a profound impact on their lives and that of their family.

“These types of crimes cause widespread harm in our communities and we will continue to address them head on.”

Leonard urged the public to contact police as soon as possible regarding any suspicious or illegal behavior.

“Call 111 if it’s happening now, or 105 if it happened after the fact,” he said.
