Netflix is dropping its ad-free basic plan in the US: check out the remaining plans

Streaming giant Netflix is on the verge of ditching its $11.99 ad-free basic plan, potentially driving most of its viewers to its cheaper ad-supported plan. The company has already canceled the plan in the U.K. and Canada. Netflix announced Thursday that it will be canceling the plan in the U.S. and France. The company stopped offering the basic plan in July 2023, and it is not listed in the Plans & Pricing section. Previously, customers were allowed to keep the basic plan as long as they did not change or cancel their current plan.

Netflix is dropping its basic ad-free plan

He said: “Basically, we’re giving them a better experience: two streams instead of one. We have higher definition. We have downloads. And of course, all at a lower price. And for members who don’t want that ad-supported experience, of course, they can choose our ad-free Standard or Premium plans,” USA Today reported.

According to Netflix’s second-quarter reports, the company added 8 million subscribers and stopped offering shows like Bridgerton, Baby Reindeer and The Roast of Tom Brady.
