Travis Boak turned back the clock and Shai Bolton shined, while Esava Ratugolea and Jacob Koschitzke had moments they would rather forget in a tightly contested first quarter at Adelaide Oval.

Bolton ignored attempted tackles from Miles Bergman, Willem Drew and Logan Evans to set up Koschitzke’s goal.

Boak, who turns 36 next month, racked up 10 disposals, including a superb 50-metre goal from a step-in, before Port Adelaide and Richmond traded six points for a basic opposition error.

Koschitzke’s foolish decision to punch Nathan Broad’s rebound into the crowd resulted in a 50-metre penalty and a Logan Evans goal, before Ratugolea’s back-kick was cut out by Rhyan Mansell, who slotted home.

The Tigers’ early territorial advantage neutralised the Power’s superiority in clearance, led by captain Connor Rozee.

Tigers 27, Power 26 at the start of the second quarter.
