SOS Children’s Villages publishes its 2023 International Annual Report

“I would like to see all states in the world move towards zero tolerance for child abuse,” says Diane, 14, a child rights advocate and president of a child rights club, in her opening message at our International Annual Report 2023.

Violence, whether within families or in society at large, is a major factor threatening the future of children and young people. The International Annual Report analyses what we are doing to address this and other issues affecting children and young people who are without parental care or at risk of losing it. Our responses are based on three pillars of action: prevention, protection and advocacy.

This year, the report presents a summary of our recent publication, 75 Years of Impact, which examines the evolution and impact of our work at individual, community and systemic levels.

The difference our programs are making today is illustrated by a series of personal stories: Rebeca from Bolivia talks about how a family empowerment program changed her relationship with her daughter; Zedwe from Ethiopia about the challenges he faces as a widowed father; Serhii and Olena from Ukraine about their experiences as foster parents; and Meena from India about how she found her voice to change her neighborhood for the better.

Data on our reach and key financial figures are available at the end of the report. A section on governance discusses ongoing efforts to further democratize decision-making within the organization.
