Mahama to return to presidency with unprecedented experience – Haruna Iddrisu

Tamale South Member of Parliament Haruna Iddrisu has called on the electorate to vote for National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the December elections because he returns with “unparalleled experience.”

Speaking at the launch of the NDC campaign in Tamale, he said the incoming John Mahama government would “correct the mistakes of the past” and those of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

“He (Mr Mahama) comes to the Presidency with unparalleled experience and not experience… He has been a Deputy Minister, a Minister, a Vice President, a Acting President and a President. He will come to the Presidency with a renewed sense of vigour to correct the mistakes of the past and in particular the mistakes of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia.”

“He comes to the presidency with three important characteristics: he comes to the presidency with compassion and he comes to the presidency with judgment,” said Mr. Haruna.

The launch attracted thousands of party supporters to Jubilee Park in Tamale and comes ahead of the launch of the party manifesto, scheduled for late August this year.

NDC executives took turns addressing the gathering before Mahama addressed the rally, reiterating his vision and why the country must “change course” in the December elections.

“I will work hard, day and night, to ensure that we restore the fortunes of this country… Our intention is to repair the damage that has been done,” Mahama said among other statements.

Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, called on the Electoral Commission to ensure free and fair elections and urged security agencies to remain professional in the discharge of their duties in the general elections.

Ms. Hannah Bisiw, the NDC National Women Organiser, described the 2024 elections as an opportunity to economically empower Ghanaian women as the party intended to create a Women Development Bank when elected.
