Man dies after waking up from a 244-day coma seven years after being hit by a truck

“It was because of my faith that I had the courage to speak up, fight back and let them know: ‘I’m not going to put a toenail or an eyelash on you.’”

Still in a coma, he was sent home to be with his family when one day he surprised his mother by waking up and talking to her.

“Yes, Mom, I’m fine,” he reportedly told his mother after 244 days in a coma. “I love you, Mom.”

Even though doctors thought he was “brain dead and would never walk or talk again,” he came out of the coma.

It took Kohn years of rehabilitation to walk again and he was described as a “modern miracle.”

But Kohn’s story would take a tragic and cruel turn after he was hit by a truck while walking and died.

His mother told WTLV-TV that although she is devastated, she is at peace knowing she was able to spend more time with her son.

“God honored my request and I’m not angry. I’m not upset. I’m at peace,” Osborne-Kohn told WTLV-TV.

“I was seven years old, and like Hezekiah, who turned his face toward the wall, I remember sitting on Drew’s hospital bed and saying to myself, ‘Thy will be done. ’

“Drew is healed, he’s walking and he’s not struggling to keep his balance,” she said. “He probably has his arm up and he’s saying, ‘Thank you, Jesus!’ Drew probably has a football in one hand and a Bible in the other.”

A Gofundme page has been set up to help pay for her funeral costs.

In it, the family paid tribute to their “miracle man” and shared how passionate he was about helping others.

“Drew showed us what it looks like to walk by faith. He touched countless lives along the way and pointed everyone he met to Jesus.

“He was passionate about helping those suffering from trauma and traumatic brain injuries, and he always offered them hope.”
