‘Toll of victims’ after helicopter crashes into building in Ireland | World News

Police say there have been several casualties after a helicopter crashed into a building in Ireland.

The accident happened at 3.30pm on Tuesday in Co Westmeath and emergency services are at the scene.

Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service Acting Chief Fire Officer Pat Hunt told a radio station: “We understand this is an incident involving a helicopter which crashed into a building in the township of Joristown Upper in Killucan, Co Westmeath.”

He added: “All major response agencies are mobilising to the scene – An Garda Siochana, the ambulance service and ourselves.

“What we can understand is that there are a number of victims involved, but again, we cannot confirm at this time the number.”
