Restaurant Staff: Restaurant staff arrested for hiding phone in ladies’ washroom | Dehradun News

DEHRADUN: A housekeeping staff member at a popular restaurant on Chakrata Road, Dehradunwas arrested for allegedly placing his mobile phone in the ladies’ washroom to record guests secretly.
The accused, Vinod Mandal27, a resident of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, was arrested after guests, including women, protested inside the restaurant on Thursday night.
Ajai Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, said a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following spotted a complaint from a woman who called the phone.
“During questioning, Mandal confessed to the crime and admitted to having done it at least twice before. He would place the phone in the laundry room and retrieve it after a few hours,” Singh said. Singh added that Mandal deleted all the recorded clips after the protest in the restaurant.
The police sent his mobile to a forensic lab. “Mandal was produced before a local court in Dehradun on Friday and was sent to jail,” he said.
