How to watch Houston Astros vs. Philadelphia Phillies for FREE: time, details

The Philadelphia Phillies got a huge boost on Monday night with a 10th-inning victory over the Houston Astros, with Bryce Harper knocking in the winning run.

They meet in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philly. The game starts at 6:40 p.m. EDT and you can watch it on TBS or stream it live on Sling TV (discount) or DirecTV Stream (FREE trial and discount).

Justin Verlander (3-3, 3.92 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 57 strikeouts) for the Astros will face Aaron Nola (11-6, 3.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 147 strikeouts) for the Phillies.

The Phillies are 43-23 at home and have the third-best team slugging percentage in the NL at .422. They have won three games in a row.

Their production on Monday was more quality than quantity, as Brad Marsh hit an opposite-field drive off Ronel Blanco in the fifth inning and Nick Castellanos’ RBI single in the sixth inning tied the score at 2-2.

Matt Strahm (6-2) worked a scoreless 10th for Philadelphia. He got help on the final out from center fielder Johan Rojas, who made a diving catch to rob Yainer Diaz of a single that would have scored the automatic runner.

In the 10th inning, with runners on first and second and no outs, Harper hit the first pitch he saw from Astros closer Josh Hader (6-7) to right field to score automatic runner Kyle Schwarber.

Hader struck out the side in the ninth inning and ended the inning by making Schwarber look like a sinker.

Shay Whitcomb drove in both runs for Houston with a two-run, two-out single in the fourth inning against Zack Wheeler.

Philadelphia (77-54, first in the NL East) entered July with the best record in baseball but has stumbled since the All-Star break, going 15-20 in that span. So last night’s win must have been a huge one against the team that beat them in the 2022 World Series.

Schwarber is fourth on the Phillies with 45 extra-base hits (17 doubles and 28 home runs). JT Realmuto is 13-for-35 with four doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI in the last 10 games.

Houston (70-61, first in the AL West) has played well this month, winning 14 of 23 games against a tough schedule. The Astros are 35-32 visiting.

Yordan Alvarez leads the Astros with 25 home runs and a .543 batting average. Diaz is 15-for-43 with four home runs and five RBI in the last 10 games.
