Live Mega Millions Results for 8/27/24; $582 Million Jackpot

LANSING, MI — The Mega Millions jackpot has not been won in nearly three months, resulting in the drawing on Tuesday, August 27, having an estimated value of $582 million, with a cash option of $286.9 million. With so much excitement behind tonight’s drawing, MLive will announce the results shortly after tonight’s drawing at 11:00 p.m. EST.

The last time a player won the Mega Millions top prize was on June 4, when a player in Illinois was the sole winner of the $552 million jackpot. Aside from that win, only one other player has won a Mega Millions jackpot in 2024, as the other jackpot win came in February when a player in New Jersey won a $1.128 billion prize that has yet to be claimed.

Mega Millions draws are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70; the Mega Ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 25. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.

The last Michigan player to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot was the Breakfast Club lottery club, which claimed an $842 million jackpot in June 2024. Members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.

And while they were lucky winners, players would be wise to check their tickets right away, as a $1 million Mega Millions winner sold in Southfield in 2023 went unclaimed. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
