Julie Chen Moonves Reacts to Watching Jerry O’Connell Host ‘Big Brother’

Every week, Big Brother Host Julie Chen Moonves will be sharing her thoughts on the latest happenings in the house. This week, she’ll be reacting to missing her first show as host (due to Covid), how her replacement Jerry O’Connell did it, why everyone keeps saving Angela with the Veto, and how Quinn ended up on the jury.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: History was made this week, Julie. What was it like not having to host your show for the first time due to Covid, and watching someone else do it?

JULIE CHEN MOONVES: It was like a staycation. I thought, “Oooooh, so this is what it’s like to have a watch party.” There’s just one problem… it was a party for one!

How do you think Jerry did when he replaced you and also said your famous line “But first…”?

I love Jerry, and I loved how he did the “But First!”. He made it big, and it shows that he gets the joke. Hysterical. His personality really shines through in everything he does, because he is a genuine and genuinely funny guy. He made it his own and he did a great job! Thanks, Jerry!

Julie, everyone keeps using the Veto on Angela! How and why does this keep happening?

They don’t feel threatened by her. But remember, in Season 2, no one felt threatened by Will Kirby, and he won. Be warned: Angela knows this game and how to stir it up when she wants to, and it’s served her well. She can also show her loving, caring side, or her vulnerable side, and people are drawn to that. She’s playing perhaps the best game yet!

What do you think about the house deciding to evict Quinn instead of Kimo?

Smart, because he has shown that he can easily turn people around to save his own game and not warn them. He is a smart player… funny, charming, smart, knows the game like the back of his hand, holds no grudges, enjoys life and has personality for days. He is not someone you want to be next to in the bottom two, because he could probably talk and win his way against anyone next to him from those still in the game.
