It is doubtful that Rams star forward Cooper Kupp will return for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the news via Twitter/X.

Kupp suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the game.

Kupp will likely have to leave the field, as he caught the ball four times for 37 yards.

Kupp left the field late in the second quarter on Sunday. He was receiving attention from the Rams’ medical staff and was spotted running along the sideline. He returned for one offensive play before halftime, but he did not look comfortable.

Kupp walked from the field to the locker room under his own power, but he was clearly limping.

The Rams entered Week 2 nursing a number of injuries to key players, including star wide receiver Puka Nacua. You could now add Kupp to that mix of injured players.

The last thing the Rams need is for Kupp to miss an extended period of time. The severity of the injury is unknown at this time. We’ll know more after the game and later in the week.

The Rams are already without Nacua, their All-Pro wide receiver. He suffered a PCL sprain and was placed on the injured list. He will miss four games this season and is likely to miss more. Schefter reported a few days ago that Nacua could miss 5-7 weeks, potentially keeping him out until midseason.

Kupp entered this season healthier than he has been since 2021. Since Kupp’s record-setting 2021 campaign, the 31-year-old has been plagued by injuries. He suffered a serious ankle injury in mid-November 2022. He suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 10 and landed on IR. He was ruled out for the remainder of the season and the Rams finished 5-12 that season.

In 2023, Kupp began the season with a hamstring injury and missed the first four games of the season. He returned in Week 5 and played the rest of the season, but it was clear that Kupp was not himself. In 12 games last season, Kupp recorded 59 receptions for 737 yards, five touchdowns and averaged 12.5 yards per reception.

Fortunately, Nacua’s emergence saved the Rams’ season last year, but now they’re both out and that could spell trouble for LA

Kupp was a one-time Pro Bowler, a one-time All-Pro, a Super Bowl champion and a Super Bowl MVP.
