Steelers News: Russell Wilson, Rookie WR Roman Wilson Officially Inactive for Week 3 Against Chargers

With just 90 minutes left until kickoff in the Week 3 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers, both teams have officially announced their inactive players.

Absent from the inactive list today is rookie Troy Fautanu, who was placed on the injured list with a knee injury he suffered in practice this week. He is expected to miss “most, if not all” of the 2024 NFL season, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Saturday night.

The biggest surprise this week is the inactive status of Steelers third-round rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson, who has been dealing with an ankle injury suffered during training camp but was left off the final injury report without a designation. He appears to be a healthy scratch in this game, perhaps because the coaching staff is hoping for more time to work him into the offensive scheme. Still, given Pittsburgh’s lack of depth at the position right now, it’s certainly surprising to see him not in the active lineup.

Of note for the Chargers is that quarterback Justin Herbert is active and will start in this game after suffering a serious ankle injury in Week 2 that made him questionable for this game.

Below are the Steelers’ inactive players for their Week 3 home game against the Chargers.
