SEC Power Ranking after Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss are stunned and the tide starts to roll

This weekend was by far the best we have had early in this College Football season. Almost every team in the SEC was playing and we had the big game between Alabama and Georgia. This week had it all, including a stunning upset, some wire-to-wire games, and perhaps the craziest game of the season between Alabama and Georgia. After week five, we see how we give the SEC a Power Ranking:

1-4 (0-2). . Hialstate. . . . Last week: 16. . 16.530

The Bulldogs didn’t lose as badly as many expected against Texas on Saturday, but they still suffered a loss. It’s hard to be harsh on Mississippi State when Jeff Lebby took over in disaster, but you’re still waiting for an impressive performance from the offensive guru.

Hugo. . Last week: 15. . . 2-3 (0-2). . 15. . 525

Hugh Freeze was attacked this week by former players and Auburn alumni, while also saying his team would have beaten Arkansas 9 times out of 10. The Tigers were in control Saturday, but Hugh Freeze didn’t believe his quarterback would hand over the win. ball on third down before missing a field goal, leading to an Oklahoma touchdown. He then relied on his quarterback with a lead, but Payton Thorne threw a pick-six. This team is not good, and at this point they might not even qualify for a bowl game. Still on the schedule are Georgia, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Alabama.

Florida. Last week: 14. . . 2-2 (1-1). . 14. 526. .

The best part for Billy Napier is that he didn’t play this weekend, allowing him to serve as Florida’s head coach for at least another week. Now Florida takes on UCF, which is coming off a horrific loss to Colorado and could give Napier a chance to get above .500. If you want to look on the bright side, Graham Mertz was impressive last weekend and if he can carry it over Florida, it could upset some teams down the road.

. ArkyPitt. . . 524. 3-2 (1-2). . 13. . Last week: 11

It appears Sam Pittman is trying to top Billy Napier as the first SEC head coach to be fired this season. After a big win over Auburn last weekend, Arkansas followed by losing to Texas A&M while scoring just 3 points in the second half. The defense held Texas A&M under 300 yards, but they still lost this game. The schedule doesn’t get much easier as the Razorbacks have Tennessee and LSU next on the schedule.
