Rise and Phight: 29-09-2024 – The good Phight

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate how impressive Zack Wheeler is. Yesterday, the right-hander finished his regular season with exactly 200 innings, a goal from him that was clearly cherished on the field yesterday. After recording a single in the seventh inning, Rob Thomson strode to the mound to get his ace out of the game to the applause of the crowd.

Two hundred innings from a starter is becoming increasingly rare these days, unlike the good old days when starters went longer. There’s a debate about whether that’s a good thing for the game of baseball that I’m honestly not interested in, but Wheeler doing it is pretty cool.

Raise a glass to our ace!
