Jevon Holland injury update: Broken hand could cost Dolphins playing time

The Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots on Sunday, but the injury bug continues the Dolphins’ 2024 roster ravage. Running back De’Von Achane left the game with a concussion, placing him in the league’s protocols for a head injury as the team entered their bye week. As Achane works his way towards being cleared to return, he could be ready to play by the time the team is back on the field in two weeks. It’s another injury that could become a bigger problem for the Dolphins.

Safety Jevon Holland left the game in the fourth quarter with a reported hand injury. He was listed as doubtful to return by the Dolphins, but he never returned to the game. After the game, Miami Herald columnist Omar Kelly reported that Holland’s hand was in a cast and that surgery was being discussed.

Later Sunday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport backed up Kelly’s initial report, adding that Holland suffered “a broken bone in his hand.”

The Netherlands missed several matches last season due to injuries to both knees. Depending on the severity of the fracture and whether surgery is required, he could be out for the next few weeks or even the rest of the year.

Jordan Poyer, the other starting safety for Miami, was out Sunday with a shin injury.

Holland had five tackles and a pass defended against the Patriots before leaving the game. He now has 22 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble this season.
