“He told me, ‘You’ve basically lost the person you knew,’” Hough said, recalling through tears how he “begged” on the hospital floor and asked Erbert, “Please don’t leave.”

Hough said his wife was “unrecognizable” the next morning after surgery and was missing 40% of her skull. However, when she woke up, Hough said Erbert remembered them “just dancing” before her hospital stay and that he had his wife “back.”

Erbert, a former member of the dance group “DWTS”, regularly performs on “DWTS” and on tour with her husband. She learned to walk again with a helmet, with Hough calling her “my beautiful miracle” before Erbert appeared on camera.

“I was determined to push myself to the limit to be able to dance again,” Erbert said. “To say it was easy to get there would be a complete lie. I will be forever grateful to everyone who supported me through this. That’s why I’m here today.”
