‘Agatha All Around’ will make Scarlet Witch the centerpiece of the MCU, despite her being dead

Agatha All Around will air a new episode tonight that focuses almost entirely on Wiccan, aka Billy Maximoff, including an explanation of how he exists despite supposedly being a magically created entity by Wanda. And now that he exists, Joe Locke is basically nothing like the guy who played him before. The trailer ruined most of this, but I won’t do that here because it annoyed me.

But where this is all going seems clear, and it’s not really a spoiler, it’s more of an inevitability. Billy Maximoff is now on the Witches Road and gives you what you’re missing. His mother, Wanda, is dead. Her corpse is shown at the beginning of the series. What the hell more does he want at the end of that road?

It’s not just that Agatha All Along will bring back Scarlet Witch and Elizabeth Olsen, it’s also the role she’ll likely play in the future.

I’d say that at this stage of the MCU, the two biggest favorite characters are the ones currently sidelined but about to be tagged: Scarlet Witch and Daredevil. Daredevil returns next year for an extensive new series, but Disney is keeping quiet about Scarlet Witch.

However, insiders continue to report things like how she will be a major part of the next two Avengers movies and might even get a solo movie. Without all of this being confirmed, I believe the gist of it is true: Wanda will play a major role in the future as one of the last, most important pre-Thanos members of the MCU. Otherwise, things are in a strange place because:

  • Tony Stark is dead, and when he returns it will be the result of some strange Doom/Stark multiverse shenanigans.
  • Evan’s Captain America is off the table and is replaced by Sam Wilson.
  • Black Panther is now Shuri, for now.
  • Thor is who knows where and his last movie was terrible.
  • Hulk hasn’t even gotten a solo movie yet and was last seen in the canceled She-Hulk. And he’s stuck in Smart Hulk form these days.
  • Shang-Chi is said to be getting a sequel, but we have no idea when that will happen.
  • Captain Marvel may be the most powerful Avenger alive, but her last film was a total failure.
  • Doctor Strange is still around and we could obviously see a reunion with him and Wanda, albeit in a less hostile form.

The only person I could see being more relevant than Wanda right now is Spider-Man, as his corner of the universe and an upcoming reset of the trilogy means he’s still going strong.

But I have to believe that Wanda’s return is going to be a big moment for the MCU, and not just in terms of the past, but also the future, where she has a lot of comedic links to Doctor Doom and later the X-Men, too although the MCU version is a bit rewritten from those origins.

So in just a few weeks, Agatha All Around will deliver perhaps one of the most important moments in the MCU. I can’t wait.
