Aaron Rodgers hopes to be “back to my faster-than-Godchaux speed”

Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux gave an honest assessment of where Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is now physically.

After New England’s 25-22 victory on Sunday, Godchaux said of Rodgers: “Hall of Fame quarterback. I hate to see him go out like that. . . . He definitely doesn’t look the same. . . . Shit, I could run him over and catch him. He doesn’t look mobile at all.”

Rodgers didn’t hear Godchaux’s comments, but he didn’t argue.

He’s probably rightRodgers said Tuesday, via ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “Yes, I was in pain, but I feel better today.”

Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon on the fourth play last season, but he said injuries have not been an issue this season. He has missed practice time this season due to hamstring, knee and ankle injuries.

He is on the practice report this week with knee and hamstring injuries, but was assessed as a full participant on Tuesday.

Rodgers said he’s been taking care of himself “non-stop” and is feeling better this week.

“I expect to be able to do a lot more this week,” Rodgers said. “I’ll get under center and hopefully back to my speed, which is faster than Godchaux.”

Rodgers has 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and his passer rating of 85.1 ranks 20th in the NFL and among two rookies.

“Yeah, not as good as I hoped,” he said of his season. “I have to play better. I just have to be more efficient and not turn the ball over too much. Interceptions can be misleading sometimes, but I’ve definitely had my share of bad throws.”
