Jets’ Allen Lazard lands on IR with a shoulder injury and will miss at least the next four games

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard has been placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, the team announced Thursday. He will miss at least the next four games due to the illness.

The Jets signed kicker Riley Patterson from the practice squad to fill the roster spot ahead of the Jets’ Thursday night game with the Houston Texans. Patterson also replaces the injured Greg Zuerlein, who is also on IR.

Lazard, who turns 29 in December, missed New York’s Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots because of the injury. He played in the Jets’ first seven games of the 2024 season and at times looked like Aaron Rodgers’ top target. Lazard has 30 receptions for 412 yards and five touchdowns this season.

The longtime Packers wideout and teammate of Rodgers came to the Jets via free agency last offseason, even before the Packers traded Rodgers to the Jets. Without Rodgers for virtually the entire 2023 season, Lazard caught 23 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown in 14 games.

Lazard’s injury makes Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams the biggest threats to Rodgers. Trade rumors are swirling for Williams as the November 5 deadline approaches next week.
