NY Jets star WR leaves after hard hit

NY Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is in the midst of his best game since joining the team a few weeks ago, but in typical Jets fashion, anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

Adams hauled in his sixth catch of the game late in the third quarter, bringing his total to 54 receiving yards on the day. The six-time Pro Bowler toasted a defender from the line of scrimmage and made a crucial fourth-down catch, but was hit hard late in the play.

Adams stood on the sideline and was attended to by trainers for a few seconds before walking away under his own power. He was later seen walking to the blue medical tent and reports being examined by an independent neurologist.

That appears to indicate Adams is being monitored for a concussion, making his return to the game questionable. The Jets are already without wide receiver Allen Lazard, who was placed on IR earlier today.

Adams was later seen walking to the locker room after leaving the blue medical tent. The Jets have indicated that Adams is being evaluated in the locker room for a concussion.

The Jets are already thin at receiver, with Lazard on injured reserve. With Adams out, the Jets are left with Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, Xavier Gipson, Irvin Charles and rookie Malachi Corley, whose stupid fumble in the first half drew the ire of the coaching staff.

The Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Adams earlier this month. Adams had recorded just seven catches for 84 yards in his two games with the Jets entering Week 9.

*UPDATE: Davante Adams has returned to the game with approximately six minutes left in the fourth quarter*
