New York Jets vs Houston Texans second half thread

The first half of the New York Jets’ Week 9 game against the Houston Texans is in the books and the Jets trail the Texans by seven points at 7-0.

Both teams fought through a scoreless first quarter. The Texans had the best chance to score, driving the ball to the Jets’ 11-yard line before a Quinnen Williams strip sack and Will McDonald’s fumble recovery smothered that drive.

The quarter ended with the Jets within striking distance, driving to the Texans 19-yard line.

On the first play of the second quarter, Malachi Corley ran into the end zone on an apparent touchdown run. In a play that was emblematic of this entire dumpster fire of a season, the rookie receiver made a monumentally stupid mistake, dropping the ball right short of the goal line in celebration. The play resulted in a touchback and turnover. Freaking Jets.

After a few drives that went nowhere, the Jets got off a 75-yard punt, trapping the Texans on their own two-yard line. That presented the Jets with an opportunity. In typical Jets fashion, they wasted it. The Texans put together a 98-yard touchdown drive to take a 7-0 lead with just over three minutes left in the half.

The Jets’ next drive went nowhere and the Texans got the ball back. They put the ball in range for a 56-yard field goal attempt, but they missed it.

The Jets got the ball back near midfield, but Davante Adams dropped a perfect pass from Aaron Rodgers and the Jets were held scoreless as the half ended.

The Jets went into the locker room after being shutout in the first half. They trail the Texans by seven points at 7-0. Nothing we’ve seen in the first half or the entire season suggests the Jets will be able to overcome this relatively small deficit.
