Jesse Watters tells his wife that secretly voting for Kamala Harris would be like ‘having an affair’

Fox News host Jesse Watters said during a segment of The Five that if his wife secretly voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, it “would be like having an affair.”

The panel discussed a recent Harris campaign ad, narrated by actress Julia Roberts, that suggested women could vote for the VP without telling their Trump-supporting husbands.

Watters admitted in 2018 that his relationship with his now wife Emma DiGiovine started as an affair during his first marriage. According to DiGiovine, he was a producer on his show at the time Mediaite. The affair led to Watters’ first wife filing for divorce.

“Finding out that Emma went to the voting booth and pulled the lever for Harris is like having an affair,” Watters told the rest of the panel. “That violates the sanctity of our marriage. What else is she keeping from me? What is she lying about?”

“Why would she lie to you?” asked fellow panelist Jeanine Pirro.

“Why would she do that and vote for Harris? Why would she say she was voting… If I caught her and she said, ‘I’ve been lying to you for the last four years,'” he added.

“It’s over, Emma!” Watters said in a mocking tone. “That would be D-Day!”

The ad, produced by Christian-backed political group Vote Common Good, has faced backlash online from conservative voters and experts who say it encourages people to lie to their partners.

Right-wing commentator and activist Charlie Kirk, appearing on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM program, said Harris “needs people to basically lie to their husbands, which is what they’re promoting…I find that whole ad campaign so disgusting. It is so disastrous… It is the epitome of the demise of the American family.”

“I think it’s so dirty. I find it so sickening that this woman is wearing the American hat. She comes in with her lovely husband, who is probably doing his utmost to make sure she can… have a nice life and take care of the family,” he added.

“And then she lies to him and says, ‘Oh yeah, I’m going to vote for Trump.’ And then she votes for Kamala Harris as her little secret in the voting booth. Kamala Harris and her team believe there will be millions of women undermining their husbands in ways that are not reflected in the polls.”

Vote Common Good, a nonprofit that encourages people of faith to vote in good conscience, defended the ad.

“People know how much pressure there is on voters, and not just on women,” said Executive Director Doug Pagitt. “There is so much pressure, especially within the religious community, that no one breaks away.”

The controversy over the ad comes after former President Donald Trump said he would “protect” women whether they like it or not.

“I said, ‘Well, I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not,’” Trump said in Wisconsin on Wednesday night. “I’m going to protect them.”

The Harris campaign seized this moment and Harris wrote about X: “Donald Trump believes he should make decisions about what you do with your body. Whether you like it or not.”
