CJ Stroud: Thursday night we were embarrassed

Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has had quite a bit of success since entering the league as the second overall pick in 2023, but his games against the Jets were not on that list.

Stroud was injured in a loss to the team as a rookie and was hit again in a 21-13 loss on Thursday night. Stroud was sacked eight times and completed 11 of 30 passes against a team that lost five straight heading into the matchup, which he called a warning to “tighten the ship” when speaking to reporters after the game.

“To come out here for a primetime game and be ashamedthat’s never fun,” Stroud said. “We need to be better in many areas, and that starts with me. There are plays I have to make, throws I have to make. Sometimes I have to sit in my pocket and just trust my guys. I point the finger at me and realize that I have to improve as a footballer. If we want to win, this is not the recipe for it.”

Stroud talked about the need to get the ball out faster when discussing pass protection, but these issues have been there all season and are something the Texans need to iron out if they want to have the kind of success they’re hoping for. this season.
