Weather warning issued for increased fire danger in part of Pennsylvania through Friday evening

The National Weather Service issued a weather warning at 10:01 a.m. Friday due to increased fire danger until 6 p.m. for Northern Clinton, Northern Center, Southern Center, Northern Lycoming, Southern Clinton and Southern Lycoming, as well as Sullivan County.

“A combination of dry and windy conditions this afternoon will create an increased risk of wildfire spreading across the area. Minimum relative humidity values will range from 30 to 35 percent, accompanied by west-northwest wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph. Residents are urged to exercise caution when handling potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes or matches. If dry grass and tree debris begin to burn, the fire can spread quickly,” the weather service said.
