NWS issues flood watch for Wichita Falls

With up to 6 inches of rain possible this weekend, the National Weather Service has placed Wichita Falls and parts of North Texas on a Flood Watch.

The watch applies from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon.

The weather service warned that flooding from excessive rainfall is possible.

“Several showers and thunderstorms are expected… with widespread rainfall totals of three to seven inches, with locally higher amounts possible,” the NWS said.

Wichita Falls is located in an area where large volumes are possible.

The NWS said multiple thunderstorms are expected, with heavy rain and flooding the main danger. The most intense storms can also produce large hail and damaging winds.
