MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Welcome to the first day of November! We’ll start off cold, but seasonally this is right where we should be, in the lower 30s. Today, any clouds we have this morning will clear leaving us with a mostly sunny day and highs in the low 50s.

High pressure remains contained and Saturday will be a similar day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures rising into the upper 50s. Then we will enter a very wet period from Sunday. We will have rain showers Sunday through Tuesday. This precipitation is expected to make a major dent in the drought we were experiencing at the beginning of this week. This, combined with the amounts we received a few days ago, should improve the severe and moderate levels we were below.

What’s coming…

Sunday will remain cloudy, gray and mild with temperatures in the low 60s. Some forecast models suggest we could have as much as 1″ for many of us by the end of the day.

Looking ahead…

The wet weather will continue on Monday and Tuesday, which of course also includes the day that many people go to the polls. Temperatures on Monday will be more like late September, pushing temperatures above 60 degrees. Still mild Tuesday, but slightly milder into the 60s.
