Poor early reviews from critics point to a magical masterpiece

Bada big-screen adaptation of the famous theater production that regularly makes waves in New York City has finally arrived hits theaters in November. From the few early previews of the film floating around critics, we know that everyone is even remotely interested in it The Wonderful Wizard of Ozor theater production in general, will be in for a treat. They call it a ‘masterpiece’ and a ‘miracle’.

Bad tells the story of Elphaba, known as the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch, in their earliest days as students at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. With her unusual green skin and lack of understanding of her unique powers, Elphaba becomes the target of hostilities. However, an unlikely friendship develops between Elphaba and Glinda before the two encounter a crossroads that will change their fates and the landscape of Oz forever.

On IMDB, Bad is slowly declining in popularity, although it is still in the top 50 of upcoming releases, making it a top pick for the fall season. It’s still too early to say anything on Rotten Tomatoes. There are no official reviews from critics or fans available, making the film’s rating unavailable.

From director Jon M Chu (Crazy rich Asians And In the heights) and with Cynthia Erivo (Bad times at El Royale), Ariana Grande (Don’t look up), and Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic World Domination), Bad officially hits theaters on Friday, November 22. It’s a musical fantasy adventure with a running time of two hours and 40 minutes, which makes it somewhat challenging for those with young children who can’t sit still in the theater.

Whether you have a child with you or not, some early tastes of Bad indicate that childlike wonder awaits in the theater:

Variety, Katcy Stephen:

“I was ‘pessimistic’ going into it, but… WICKED is a masterpiece. Ariana Grande makes Glinda sparkle: she makes the most of every moment with enthusiasm, humor and hair movements. Jon M. Chu added so much new life to the story that I can see why it had to be in two parts! Definitely worth the twenty year wait.”

Vanity Fair, Chris Murphy:

“I have seen the Wicked movie not once, not twice, but three times now and believe me when I say it is a complete and utter murder, you will be gagged beyond belief. Everything you think the movie looks like from your cracked iPhones is wrong. Cynthia and Ari are truly impeccable.”

We live entertainment, Scott Menzel:

“Wicked is a cinematic spectacle that serves as one of the very best theatrical adaptations of a Broadway musical ever. Jon M. Chu perfectly captures the magic of the Broadway show, while adding some of his own unique touches to the source material. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo completely knock it out of the park as Elphaba and Galinda. Jonathan Bailey is also quite phenomenal in the film. Wicked lives up to the hype and often succeeds. Oh, and there’s one scene that fans of the Broadway show will absolutely go crazy for. Wicked is without a doubt one of the best films of the year.”

WBAL TV, Lauren Veneziani:

“One of the most perfect musical adaptations to ever exist. 💚💗 #WickedMovie exceeded my expectations. Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande are a match made in cinematic musical heaven, one dance scene in particular made me so emotional. Wow. I can’t wait to see it again! It’s the Shiz!!”

The cover, Drew Taylor:

“#Wicked is solid – lushly realized, quite moving at times (both leads are great). But it also falls into some of the pitfalls of Disney’s live-action remakes that diminish its power: too long, noisy, too designed. Overall I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for part 2🧹.”
