Detroit Pistons announce starting lineup vs. New York Knicks

Friday night offers the Detroit Pistons a chance to build their first winning streak of the 2024-2025 NBA season. This season they will host the New York Knicks for the first time.

At the start of the week, the Pistons were winless through two games heading into a matchup against the Miami Heat. For three quarters, Detroit held a slim lead against the Heat. However, the first win of the year would not come to South Beach.

A rough fourth quarter led to a fourth straight loss for the Pistons. The team stayed positive as they continued to hit the road to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.

The Sixers suffered some notable absences, were undermanned and were still searching for an early identity this season. The Pistons have found a way to take advantage of this.

Controlling the game all night, the Pistons just had to make sure they found a way to close out the game while on top. Not only did the Pistons get their first win of the season, but they did so in convincing fashion against a struggling Sixers team.

Friday’s game will take place against another Eastern Conference playoff contender. Last season, the Knicks won the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs before falling short in the second round. This offseason, the Knicks made a handful of big moves to strengthen their lineup as they attempt to make a run at the title.

The Pistons ran with this starting lineup on night one and haven’t looked back.

Heading into the season, there were questions about the fit of Jaden Ivey alongside Cade Cunningham. So far, the defensive duo has shined.

As for offseason acquisitions Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris, they have met their match. Harris has a lot more that he should be able to offer, but his recovery has been a big help for Detroit. As for Hardaway, his preseason shooting slump did not continue into the regular season. Therefore, his place as the team’s starting forward is secure.
