Game logs, Heisman Trophy odds for Boise State RB

play

Ashton Jeanty continues to take college football by storm in the midst of a historic season at Boise State as he emerges as a top-10 prospect in the upcoming NFL draft class.

Perhaps an added layer of uniqueness to Jeanty’s season is that it comes at the Mountain West and at Boise State (a “Group of Five” program) and not at the “Power Four” level.

The 6-foot-1 running back is coming off an outing against UNLV in which he touched the ball 33 times and ran for 128 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown. He leads the nation in rushing and is second in rushing touchdowns and remains in contention to become the first running back since Alabama’s Derrick Henry to win the Heisman Trophy Award.

Jeanty’s 128 rushing yards last week vs. UNLV tied Jay Ajayi’s record for the program record for most consecutive games with 100-plus yards rushing at seven. His third-quarter rushing touchdown was his 18th score of the season, which also tied him with Ajayi for sixth-most in a season.

Entering Week 10 of the college football season, Jeanty also remains on pace to break one of college football’s longest records by a running back: Barry Sanders’ NCAA single-season record that he set at Oklahoma State in 1988 .

Here’s a look at Jeanty’s stats this season, including a game log of his games this season and how far away he is from Sanders’ record:

Ashton Jeanty stats

Through seven games, Jeanty has recorded 1,376 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns on 159 carries. With five regular season games remaining, Jeanty is 1,252 yards away from tying Sanders’ record.

Remark: The Broncos are currently in position to play in the Mountain West championship game and a first-round game in the College Football Playoff, so Jeanty would have at least seven games remaining this season.
