National recalls for cheese, coffee creamer and more to watch out for now

From cheese and evaporated milk to frozen waffles, check your kitchen for these recently recalled items.

1. Soft cheese

According to the Food and Drug Administration, Savencia Cheese USA has issued a voluntary recall for several soft cheese products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The affected cheeses were sold at Aldi, Market Basket and other supermarkets across the country. Routine testing confirmed that the processing equipment was contaminated, but fortunately no illnesses were reported.

2. Coffee creamer

International Delight has recalled approximately 10,794 bottles of newly released sugar-free coffee creamers after they were found to contain sugar.

The Home Alone International Delight Peppermint Mocha Zero Sugar coffee creamer was sold in 32-ounce bottles between July 2024 and October 12, 2024 and includes a best before date of “02.25.25”. The product was distributed in Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

While it is still safe to consume, consumers can return the product and get a refund.

3. Butter

Costco announced a recall for two types of butter sold in Texas due to an undeclared allergen.

The two products were Kirkland Signature Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter (16 ounces) with a best before date of “February 22, 2025”, “February 23, 2025”, “March 22, 2025” or “March 23, 2025” and Kirkland Signature Salted Sweet Cream Butter (16 ounces) with an expiration date of “February 23, 2025” or “March 29, 2025”. The recall was initiated because the products contained milk, which was not clearly labeled as an allergen.

If you are sensitive or allergic to dairy, you are encouraged to return the product to your local Costco for a full refund. If you have any questions or concerns about this recall, please contact your local FDA Complaint Coordinator.

4. Bread

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, several brands of bread and rolls have been recalled in Canada because pieces of metal were found in the product.

The affected bread was sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and Quebec, and includes popular brands such as Country Harvest, Great Value and Wonder. No illnesses have been reported as a result of the recall.

5. Salmon

Costco announced a recall for smoked salmon due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon was distributed to the Southeast Costco Distribution Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, and sold at warehouses throughout Florida from October 9 through October 13, 2024. The product is lot number “8512801270”, UPC “0 96619 25697 6 ” and an expiration date of “13-11-2024”. No illnesses have been reported due to the possible contamination.

5. Frozen waffles and pancakes

Nearly 700 brands of frozen waffles and pancakes were recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. recalled several types of frozen waffles and pancakes after routine testing confirmed possible Listeria contamination. The products were distributed in Canada and the United States to retailers including Target, Publix and Walmart. A full list of the recalled products can be found here.

Consumers are encouraged to compare the expiration date, lot code and UPC to determine if their purchases are included. They are also advised to return the recalled products for a full refund.
