Chicago shooting: Woman shot on Washington Street in the Loop, officials say; Police respond to Macy’s on State Street

CHICAGO (WLS) — A woman was seriously injured after a shooting in the Loop on Saturday evening, Chicago fire officials said.

The shooting happened on a sidewalk in the 0-100 block of West Washington Street, Chicago police said. Police were also seen investigating the Macy’s store on State Street.

A 19-year-old woman was shot by an unknown male perpetrator while walking on a sidewalk with a group of people, CPD said. She was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, CFD officials said.

Another crime scene was seen at the scene of the shooting on nearby Washington Street. It was not immediately clear why the investigation included the Macy’s store.

The Macy’s store is located at State and Randolph Streets downtown, near ABC7 Chicago’s State Street Studios. A heavy police presence was seen both inside and outside the store.

Another woman who experienced a medical emergency was taken to a hospital in good condition, CFD said.
