Iowa Basketball vs SC Upstate: Watch + Game Thread

As we all prepare to stuff our faces with football and celebration, the Iowa Hawkeyes are back home at Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the first time in a week and ready to bounce back after losing their first game of the season in their last appearance against Utah State in Kansas City.

The Hawkeyes will host the South Carolina Upstate Spartans in their final non-conference game before Big Ten play officially starts a week from tonight. SC Upstate comes into the game at 2-6 overall and 0-4 in road games. The Spartans have already been tested against P6 competition this year with losses at NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Hawkeye fans could score big tonight. The Spartans are averaging nearly 82 points per game (73 ppg vs. P6 opponents) while giving up over 85 points per game. Iowa is averaging nearly 84 per game and will certainly look to get things going on the offensive end after struggling a bit to score in their 77-69 loss to Utah State.

For SC Upstate, keep an eye on Mr. Dean (yes, that’s right). The 6-foot-1 freshman leads the team with 18 ppg and pulls down 6.5 rebounds per game. Karmany Gregory leads the Spartans with 4 assists per game while the team is averaging nearly 14 per game, 2nd in the Big South Conference this season.
