Mega Millions Winning Numbers for 03/24/12: $541 Million Lottery Jackpot

Mega Millions players, are you in luck? Tuesday’s drawing is worth an estimated $541 million, as the lottery ends in 2024.

The winning numbers were drawn just after 11pm on Tuesday and we have the results below.

No one won the $541 million jackpot, which the lottery estimated would have been a lump sum of $258.4 million after taxes.

“While there have been jackpot wins on December 13 since Mega Millions began in 2002, only one was for more than the current estimated prize of $541 million,” the lottery said in a news release. “On December 17, 2013, a $648 million jackpot was shared by winners in California and Georgia.”

In March, a lucky Mega Millions player from New Jersey won a whopping $1.1 billion. While that prize has not yet been claimed, the lottery says it is not the first time a jackpot has gone unclaimed.

No one won the Mega Millions jackpot, but three lucky people, two in Ohio and one in Wisconsin, won the $1 million Match 5 prize.

How do you play the Mega Millions?

To purchase a ticket, you’ll need to go to your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store – and in a handful of states you can purchase tickets online.

To play you must choose six numbers. Five numbers are white balls ranging from 1 to 70. The gold Mega Ball is one number between 1 and 25.

If you think the odds are against you, ask for a “Quick Pick” or an “Easy Pick.” The computer will randomly generate the numbers for you.

Players can add the “Megaplier” for $1, which can increase non-top prize winnings two, three, four or five times. The Megaplier is drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays before the Mega Millions numbers.
